The Brazilian Proteomics Society BrProt, is a non-profit organization found in December 2012 gathering proteomics researchers from all over the country. Since inauguration BrProt has played a pivotal role in the drive, support and development of research in Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry in Brazil.
One of the main missions of the Society is the organization of a national congress every two years. The 2nd BrProt Meeting in 2014 was jointly organized with the 2nd Pan American HUPO. By the end of 2016, the Society organized the 16th Chromosome-centric Human Proteome Project, HUPO to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, together with 1,000 attendants of 1st Ibero-American-6th BrMass Conference on Mass Spectrometry at the Convention & Expo Center, Windsor, Rio de Janeiro.
In December 2017 the Brazilian Proteomics Society held the third Meeting in Brasilia. Through all these years BrProt has promoted the development of proteomics in Brazil encouraging undergraduates, graduate students, post-docs and junior researchers to pursue further training in national and international laboratories and institutions.
The 4th BrProt Meeting will be held jointly with BrMass in December 2018 at the Windsor Convention & Expo Center in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
